ABOUT THE OPERATION

I have been a commercial fisherman for over 40 years, since 1980.

I drifted for salmon in Cook Inlet, crabbed by Augustine, longlined for cod and halibut in the Gulf and PWS, but most of my time has been drift gillnetting in Prince William Sound. For the last two years I have operated a tender.

I love making things, especially things that I use - and I use a lot of twine.

My twine making operation started simply, with 4 machines from EBAY. I started making twine, and I was hooked! What began as a fun way to produce the twine that I use in my own net loft turned into something more. I bought and refurbished more braiders, and Alaska Twine was born.

I currently supply several local fishermen (and all my relatives of course) with their hanging twine, and I continue to experiment with different sizes and configurations.

If you have a twine  idea you would like to try, let me know, and I will see if I can make it for you.
